Our Weight Loss Commencement Blood Test is a comprehensive baseline assessment for adults preparing to begin a medically supervised weight-loss programme, including GLP-1 treatment where clinically appropriate.
It evaluates blood-sugar regulation and insulin resistance alongside liver, kidney, thyroid, cardiovascular, nutritional, iron, hormonal and stress-related health. A full blood count is also included.
The results establish your individual starting point and identify abnormalities requiring attention. The panel does not determine whether a medicine is suitable; prescribing requires a separate clinical assessment.

Adults seeking a clear baseline before a structured weight-loss programme or clinically prescribed GLP-1 treatment)

Important: Obtain individual fasting instructions if you take insulin or medicine that can cause low blood sugar.

It records your starting health and may identify metabolic, liver, kidney, thyroid, cardiovascular, hormonal or nutritional concerns requiring attention.
No. Suitability requires a separate assessment by an appropriately qualified prescriber.
Yes. Fast for 8–10 hours with plain water because fasting glucose, insulin, HOMA-IR and triglycerides are included.
They may indicate autoimmune thyroid activity and must be interpreted with thyroid function, symptoms and history.
It may identify contributing metabolic, thyroid, hormonal or nutritional factors, but weight is influenced by many clinical and lifestyle factors.
HSC16 establishes a broad baseline. HSC17 is designed for ongoing monitoring and includes pancreatic, urinary kidney and inflammation markers.
Usually within 48 hours after samples reach the laboratory.
Your clinician will explain the findings and advise repeat testing, GP or prescriber review, further investigation or specialist assessment.
Establish your baseline before treatment. Compliance Note: This panel provides baseline health information but does not confirm treatment suitability or replace assessment by an appropriately qualified prescriber.
